ABOUT CYC

Located overlooking Lake Karapiro, and nestled between some of the best high performance sports centres in the Waikato, Cambridge Yacht & Motorboat Club has been a fixture at Karapiro since 1947. We are proud to “bring life, colour and excitement to Lake Karapiro” when the yachts are out on the Waikato River.

CYC is a family friendly club which caters for all sailing abilities, from Learn to Sail through to fleet racing for all ages. We are a non-profit club which focuses on providing accessibility to sailing through the education and training of youth sailors based on the Yachting NZ accredited sail traing program.

The club has a very strong Learn to Sail program with a large variety of learner yachts, which have played a part in introducing hundreds of children to sailing through club training programs and school camps every year.

The lake is important as a natural resource that brings benefit to the whole community. Our programmes are focused on ensuring young people learn how to sail safely, responsibly and develop leadership on the water to ensure they successfully integrate with other Lake users.
