YOUTH PROGRAM
Cambridge Yacht Club runs a Youth Program for sailors aged 12-18. This program is setup as both learn to sail, and racing development, with sailors learning the same skills as a Learn to Sail program, but in a more team based environment suited to an older age group.

This program has the aim of making sailing more accessible and fun in a supportive team learning environment. Sailors will learn from experienced sailors in the program sailing in a fleet of eight purpose built two-handed race training yachts, which focus on teamwork and learning from each other. All aspects of dinghy sailing are taught, including sailing knots, parts of a boat, maritime safety and dinghy racing. No sailing experience is required, with a willingness to learn new skills and to work hard the only requirements. The program will also include the development of race squads for interschool Team Sailing competitions.

Sailors have the option of joining our High School Teams Sailing Team, who compete in regional and national Teams Sailing competitions in the two-handed 420 yachts, or improve their sailing skills in single handed boats such as the Open Skiff, Optimist, P Class, Starling and Laser.
